Stages of Baby Notes


·        Week 1
o   Conception begins 2 weeks after the period
o   You are not actually pregnant
o   The period is counted as the first part of pregnancy
·        Week 2
o   Still not considered Pregnant
o   The uterine lining is thickening
o   The body is preparing to release an egg for fertilization
·        Week 3
o   14 days from ovulation to find out if you’re pregnant
o   Symptoms of early signs of pregnancy
·        Week 4
o   Implantation has occurred
o   Fertilized egg divides in half
·        Week 5
o   Test can confirm pregnancy
o   Baby becomes an embryo
o   By end of week 5 the embryo has a heart
·        Week 6
o   Embryo is growing rapidly
o   Physical signs of pregnancy occur
o   Baby is between 0.08 and 0.16 inches long
·        Week 7
o   Second month of pregnancy
o   Embryo now between 0.2 and 0.52 inches long
o   It weighs about 0.03 ounces
·        Week 8
o   Doctor can confirm pregnancy
o   Between .56 and .8 inches long
·        Week 9
o   Baby now about 1 inch long and weighs 1/8 of an ounce
o   The head is half the size of the entire body
·        Week 10
o   The baby is now a fetus

Week 11-20
·        Week 21-30
o   Babies can have difficulties breathing
o   Taste buds form
o   Can start opening its eyes
o   Fingerprints and footprints become visible
o   The hair on head and eyebrows form
o   The baby can hiccup and the startle reflex develops
o   Baby gets FAT
o   Ears start to form
o   FATTER AND FATTER
o   Bone marrow starts to form
·        Week 33
o   Can Detect Light
·        Week 34
o   Fingernails Fully grown
o   Skin getting thicker
·        Week 35
o   Limbs become chubbier
o   ½ pound a week
·        Week 36
o   Assuming head down position
o   Brain rapidly developing
·        Week 37
o   Skin getting pinker
o   Babies head correctly positioned
·        Week 38
o   Antibodies
o   Growth slowing
·        Week 39
o   Finger and toenails fully grown
o   Muscles getting stronger
·        Week 40
o   Begins to blink
o   Turn its head
o   Responds to sound
